The Amazon founder is officially engaged to the journalist and this news comes as the couple are on vacation together in the South of France on the billionaire’s $500 million yacht named Koru, which symbolizes new beginnings. Bezos himself cited the meaning of Koru on his Instagram and added it’s a new phase of life, positive change, personal growth, and hope for the future.
Following the diamond proposal, the 53-year-old helicopter pilot was seen rocking a ring on that finger while they spent time together on the yacht.
The pair were also pictured enjoying a cheeky outing and even attended the premiere of Apple Original Films ‘Killers of the Flower Moon at the Cannes Film Festival. However, the same yacht features a wooden sculpture made in the likeness of Sanchez. Also attached to the ship’s prow is a design that includes a necklace featuring the symbol for Koru, which is Maori for loop or coil. It’s based on the spiral shape of an unfurling silver fern frond.
The newly engaged couple became official in January 2019 after Bezos announced his divorce from Mackenzie Scott, after 25 years of marriage.
At the time, the former Good Day LA co-host was also separating from her husband of 13 years, Patrick Whitesell, with whom she has two children as well as a son from a previous relationship with former NFL star Tony Gonzalez. Since 2019, Bezos and Sanchez have continued to grow together, with the pair going on vacations, packing on the PDA, and advocating for climate change. On the other hand, the diamond is confirmed to be 20 carats, a jeweler told Page Six.
