The actress, known for her role in Aquaman has officially ditched Hollywood following years of drama, bad press, and legal trouble. Amber Heard is said to have taken a step back from movie work and moved from the United States to Spain so she can focus effectively on raising her young daughter who was born via surrogate in 2021,

A source reportedly said of Amber Heard, “She’s bilingual in Spanish and is happy there, raising her daughter away from all the noise.”

The mentioned above means a pause in Heard’s acting career. As of May 2023, Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom and the currently-undated In the Fire are Heard’s only upcoming films, with both already in post-production. However, she hasn’t left Hollywood for good as the source further told Alison Boshoff of DailyMail“I don’t think she is in any hurry to return to work or to Hollywood.”

The source added, ‘She will probably come back when the time is right, for the right project.”  Rumors recently suggested Heard has had conversations about starring in Margot Robbie’s female reboot of Pirates of the Caribbean.

Heard’s decision to move to Spain comes after her highly-publicized defamation lawsuit with her ex-husband, Johnny Depp. At the time, she resided in her Los Angeles home and bore the expenses of the legal proceedings. The lawsuit, which spanned over six weeks, centered on an op-ed penned by the actress in 2018, in which she claimed to be a victim of domestic violence.

Depp emerged victorious from all three defamation claims and was awarded more than $10 million in damages, while Heard received $2 million for one of her three countersuit claims. Recently, the pair settled on an agreement in which Heard’s insurance company would pay $1 million to Depp, ultimately putting an end to the case.
