The veteran actor was known for his roles in the “Thor film franchise, “RRR” and the upcoming “Ashoka” series. Ray Stevenson’s career kicked off in the 90s with TV appearances before his film debut in Paul Greengrass’s 98’ film, ‘The Theory of Flight. His role as Dagonet, one of the knights of the round table, in Antoine Fuque’s 2004 film “King Arthur” brought him to the international scale.
In an email on Monday, Stevenson’s publicist Nick Fioravante confirmed the actor’s death at 58, four days before his birthday.

Further details about his death are yet to be made public but then, Stevenson was reportedly in production on his latest project, Cassino in Ischia at the time of his passing. He also has other projects to come out soon, including Gateway to the West. In addition to his work on Thor, Stevenson recently appeared as Scott Buxton in the film RRR, which made a historic, winning Best Original Song at the 2023 Oscars.

The RRR recognition made Naatu Naatu the first Indian song to win an Academy and as news of Stevenson’s death surfaced, the film’s Twitter page paid tribute to him, writing, ‘What shocking news for all of us on the team! Rest in peace, Ray Stevenson. You will stay in our hearts forever, SIR SCOTT,” alongside a broken heart emoji. However, the actor is survived by two children, Sebastiano Derek Stevenson and Leonardo George Stevenson whom he shared with partner Elisabetta Caraccia.
