She had accused Joe Biden of s*xually assaulting her while she was working in his Senate office in 1993, and while Reade never disclosed the assault to members of Biden’s staff, she filed a complaint about it and got fired. People close to her at the time said she told them about the alleged assault.
Making an appearance at an event hosted by the Russian state news outlet Sputnik, Tara Reade revealed she hopes Russian agent Maria Butina could help her citizenship application.
She said from Russia, ‘I feel really happy to be here and I feel safe.’ The event also featured Butina, who is now a member of the Duma, the lower house of Russia’s legislature. Reade added, ‘I don’t know what will happen with that, but I do promise to be a good citizen and I promise to move forward with my in positive way.’ However, she wants to keep her U.S. citizenship as well.
Reade publicly spoke of the assault months before the 2020 presidential election. But so far, Biden has firmly denied the allegations, insisting the alleged assault never happened. At the time Reade opened up, members of Biden’s Senate staff also shared their viewpoints, with most stating that the office had a professional atmosphere and that Reade never came to them with her claim of harassment.
