Prince Harry Says Rumors About James Hewitt As His Biological Father Is To Oust Him From The Royal

Prince Harry has slammed cruel rumors alleging King Charles III is not his biological father. This week, the Duke of Sussex took to the stand in London as part of a phone-hacking lawsuit against Mirror Group Newspaper Limited, the publishers behind the Daily Mirror, The People, and the Sunday Mirror. In the suit, Harry with other public figures, claims the media outlets exploited a security gap to gain access to his voicemails from friends and family.

As with taking to the stand, Harry in a 55-page witness statement released late Tuesday detailed times journalists used unlawful methods to gather information about him.

He referenced a December 2002 article published by The People, titled ‘Plot to rob the DNA of Harry,’ which he explains reported a plot to steal a sample of my DNA to test my parentage.’ Prince Harry writes that several papers at the time reported a rumor insisting his father was Major James Hewitt, a man his mother, Princess Diana had an affair with during her marriage to King Charles III.

“At the time of this article and others similar to it, I wasn’t actually aware that my mother hadn’t met Major Hewitt until after I was born,” he writes, adding he learned the timeline of the affair years later in 2014. It’s known Princess Diana’s affair with James Hewitt took place after Prince Harry was born, with the pair reportedly first meeting in 1986, therefore the rumors are inaccurate. Harry insisted journalists were aware of the true timeline of events when the 2002 story was published and knew it was impossible that Hewitt was his father.

Harry also recalled he was “always left questioning the motives behind the stories,” and whether they were planted in an attempt “to put doubt into the minds of the public” so he “might be ousted from the Royal Family.” In his memoir Spare, the Prince addressed the rumors about his parentage, claiming that King Charles III would regularly make jokes about the speculation. “Pa liked telling stories, and this was one of the best in his repertoire,” he wrote.

He added, ‘He’d always end with a burst of philosophizing … Who knows if I’m really the Prince of Wales? Who knows if I’m even your real father?’ Despite this, Prince Harry claimed he found the widespread speculation to be remarkably hilarious, adding that the media couldn’t get enough. He continued, “Maybe it made them feel better about their lives that a young prince’s life was laughable.
