Today, May 7, the pop star known for ‘California Gurls’ is programmed to perform at the Coronation Concert held at Windsor Castle. However, fans caught Kate Perry struggling to find her seat at Westminster Abbey during King Charles III Coronation. As seen in photos, the 38-year-old paid homage to the fashion icon Vivienne Westwood by wearing a lilac ensemble designed by the late designer.
Though she caught the internet’s attention for wandering around in circles for a seat, Perry’s outfit which included a matching short-sleeved jacket did highlight her slim physique.
The dress also featured a nipped-in waist and opera gloves. Perry further accessorized with a white top-handle bag from Westwood, a huge dish-style net fascinator, and a Vivienne Westwood necklace. It has earlier been disclosed that the singer will spend the night at Windsor Castle before taking the stage alongside Lionel Richie, Italian opera singer Andrea Bocelli, and Welsh bass-baritone Sir Bryn Terfel later today.
However, Perry’s wandering moment in the abbey and the size of her fascinator have left royal fans abuzz online, with someone writing, ‘Looks like everyone sitting near Katy Perry will be getting great 5G reception.’
After the ceremony, Kerry comically tweeted that her fans were ‘not to worry’ as she eventually found her seat.
In a interview before the Coronation, Perry told Extra TV, she is ‘really excited’ for her ‘wild’ sleepover at the royal residence. She added, ‘I’m really excited… I might be posting a lot because I’m gonna be in a castle, for real. This is wild.’ Asked about her Coronation invite, she stated: ‘It was very regal. It was like a cursive I have never seen [before]… I loved it.’
However, Perry was among the VIP guests that queued for a mile since 6 am to secure one of the prized 2,300 seats inside the Abbey.
Inside the church, famous faces took their seats, including Katy Perry, Lionel Richie, Sir Andrew Lloyd Webber, Stephen Fry, Nick Cave, and magician Dynamo. Dame Emma Thompson didn’t hesitate to show her enthusiasm with a thumbs-up gesture. TV personalities Ant and Dec, along with Repair Shop star Jay Blades, were also present at the service viewed by more than 100 million people worldwide.
