A new Star Wars series, named “Star Wars: Young Jedi Adventures,” is set to be unveiled by Lucasfilm and Disney+, aimed at the youngest members of their audience, the younglings! This animated series is bursting with vibrant colors and was created specifically for preschoolers and early-grade students. The Star Wars franchise has traditionally catered to a wide range of demographics but has yet to produce a proper preschool adaptation. 

Animated shows like “Star Wars: The Clone Wars,” “Star Wars Rebels,” “Star Wars: The Bad Batch,” and “Star Wars: Tales of the Jedi” had been targeted at an older audience. However, the creative team, helmed by James Waugh, Jacqui Lopez, and Josh Rimes, joined forces with Michael Olson, a writer for Puppy Dog Pals, to create a “perfect” entry point for this colorful CG show, which has been tailored to appeal to younger audiences.

Coming May 4th, 2023, exclusively on Disney+ and Disney Junior, is the full series of Star Wars: Young Jedi Adventures. This captivating series consists of 25 shorts that chronicle the exciting exploits of young space wizards as they journey across the galaxy. It’s an entertaining viewing experience that’s sure to capture the imaginations of young audiences.

The central plot of Star Wars: Young Jedi Adventures revolves around a team of Jedi younglings who are undergoing training in the ways of the Force at a sacred Jedi temple outpost on the planet Tenoo during the High Republic era, set 200 years before the Skywalker Saga. The planet’s unique treetop settlements were inspired by a drawing from legendary concept artist Ralph McQuarrie. 

Master Yoda acts as a guide to the younglings on their galaxy-spanning journey, as they encounter a diverse array of alien beings and creatures. The show offers a hopeful and thrilling ride, with straightforward yet impactful themes of compassion, friendship, loyalty, bravery, truth, and teamwork, all while retaining the quintessential Star Wars spirit and style.

The highly talented cast of Star Wars: Young Jedi Adventures includes Jamaal Avery Jr. as the driven youngling Kai Brightstar, Juliet Donenfeld as the Pantoran youngling Lys Solay, Emma Berman as the tech-savvy pilot Nash Durango, and Jonathan Lipow as Nash’s co-pilot droid RJ-83, a nod to Return of the Jedi’s 40th anniversary. 

Notably, the accomplished Dee Bradley Baker lends his voice to the delightful blue Pooba youngling Nubs, and the beloved character Master Yoda. Baker is widely recognized for his outstanding role as the voice of all the clone troopers in both Star Wars: The Clone Wars and Star Wars: The Bad Batch, along with his contributions to other acclaimed animated series and video games, including American Dad, Batman: Arkham City, and Spongebob Squarepants.
