Singer DaniLeigh Arrested And Charged For DUI, Hit & Run

An arrest affidavit obtained from the Miami Beach Police Department in Florida states DeniLeigh has been arrested and charged with both DUI and hit and run. The singer was arrested in the early morning hours on May 30th as law enforcement officers were dispatched after witnesses spotted a gray Mercedes-Benz speeding before hitting a man on a moped and continuing driving under alcohol influence.

A witness told Police that several people attempted to get DeniLeigh’s attention to tell her she was dragging the moped, however, she kept going.  

One of the bystanders alerted the police officer, who eventually got DaniLeigh to stop driving and pull over. The arrest affidavit also states that just as an officer pulled DaniLeigh’s car over, the officer could perceive a strong odor of alcohol emanating from the vehicle and the policeman noticed the singer, whose real name is Danielle Curiel had sluggish motor skills and denied hitting anyone with her car.  

According to Billboard, DaniLeigh was given a field sobriety test, which the report states she failed to perform to the standard and was then charged. Also, she was given two breath tests – the first breath sample returned with a breath alcohol level of 0.145 and the second at 0.148. Notably, anything 0.08 and above is considered impaired, as per Florida’s Department of Highway Safety & Motor Vehicles.

DaniLeigh is booked on three felony charges, including leaving the scene of a crash with serious bodily injury, damage to property or person, and driving under the influence. The driver of the moped has been transported to a trauma center after suffering a kidney laceration and a spinal fracture, with the report noting they were non-life-threatening injuries. The scooter also had major damage. 

However, DaniLeigh gained recognition as the director of Prince’s “Breakfast Can Wait” music video in 2013. She then debuted as a musician in 2015 with the single “D.O.S.E.” and has since released projects including 2017’s Summer with Friends, 2018’s The Plan, 2020’s Movie, and 2022’s My Side. The singer had been romantically linked with rapper DaBaby and the two share a daughter named, Velour, 20 months.
