The pair, who recently tied the knot in a courthouse, will soon have a bigger one, with the Olympic gold medalist revealing the event will hold in a couple of weeks. The location for the upcoming wedding isn’t disclosed yet but Biles hinted it will take place in an international country as guests are waiting for their passports.
Following the courthouse wedding, Biles on Instagram changed her name to reflect her new last name, OWENS.
She also wrote her Instagram story on April 23, ‘We had to get married ‘legally’ here in the us, since our wedding will be a destination wedding.’ Biles through a Q&A session revealed she and her husband purchased “everything” used for their Houston wedding, including bands and her shoes, which she ordered on Amazon.
Biles said of the Houston ceremony, ‘Not quite prepared for courthouse ceremony as I am for the big wedding.’
She also shared her sister arrived at the 1910 Harris County Courthouse as the ceremony finished, implying she missed the whole thing. ‘Granted it was quick but still,’ Biles said with a laughing emoji, and added ‘Typical Adria.’ She then mentioned her sister will, however, be opportune to be punctual for her upcoming “big wedding,’ expected to have about 140 guests, including her teammates from gymnastics.
Biles equally claimed that she and her husband have decided not to allow plus ones for their destination wedding, as they want the event to be as intimate as possible.
‘I know this is controversial but I’m always meeting people on a day-to-day basis & i love that & yall. But on my wedding day i didn’t want to meet any new people,’ the gymnast told TODAY. As with the upcoming event, Biles claimed they have gone over their budget; in fact, they overspent so much that they decided to do away with the budget altogether, stating ‘You only live once.’
Interestingly, Biles will be writing her vows, but she’s not sure how she will go through them, revealing, ‘I was so teary & choked up at the courthouse ceremony & it was just the basic vows.’
However, the one thing that isn’t going to be planned for the next ceremony is the uneven number of eight bridesmaids and seven groomsmen. And as for after the wedding, Biles said the couple will go on a “mini-moon,” but their actual honeymoon will be a different destination. ‘We are thinking Bora Bora,’ she said, adding that football season is about to start again so the couple will have to wait “a bit’ before heading on their honeymoon.
