On the evening of April 23rd, as fans were settling into Vaught Hemingway Stadium, they received the surprising news that Morgan Wallen would not be able to perform. A message, according to WTVA, displayed on the video boards inside the Ole Miss football stadium indicated that the country singer had lost his voice and, as a result, would be unable to proceed with his scheduled performance.

The screens at the stadium said: ‘Ladies and gentlemen, unfortunately, Morgan has lost his voice and is unable to perform tonight. Therefore, tonight’s show has been canceled.’

As per WLBT, it added: ‘Please make your way safely to the stadium exits. Refunds for tonight’s event will be available at the point of purchase.’ The announcement comes after several fans had entered the venue and shared photos expressing their excitement for Morgan’s performance. It was no doubt a shock for most people, as Morgan had performed at the same stadium the night before.

Attendees who had sat through the opening acts before the announcement left feeling disappointed, and aired their frustration on social media.

“Completely disappointed in @MorganWallen!! “Been sitting in this stadium for 3hrs and he just announced the show is canceled!!! COMPLETE BULLS–T!!!” Someone wrote on Twitter. As of press time, Morgan had not commented on the cancellation of the show, which occurred only a few days after Morgan’s on-stage tumble during his Thursday night performance in Louisville, KY.

Morgan laughed off the incident, which occurred when fog effects obstructed his view and caused him to trip and fall. However, the singer last week made history by becoming the first artist to have three songs simultaneously in the Country Airplay Top 10. “Last Night” rose to No. 8, positioning itself between “Though You Should Know” at No. 7 and “One Thing at a Time” at No. 9.
