The new Oppenheimer trailer has shown Tom Conti as Albert Einstein and Cillian Murphy as J. Robert Oppenheimer. Emily Blunt plays Kitty, Oppenheimer’s wife, and Matt Damon appears as Lieutenant General Leslie Groves. The trailer is remarkably restrained in showing Oppenheimer’s absolutely huge cast but it depicted a scene that saw scientists arriving at the Los Alamos Laboratory with their families.
“Oppenheimer” is set to hit theaters globally on July 21.
Other casts include Robert Downey Jr., Florence Pugh, Rami Malek, Kenneth Branagh, David Krumholtz, Josh Peck, and Devon Bostick. The film is a biographical film that revolves around J. Robert, an inventor of the atomic bomb. It’s based on the novel “American Prometheus: The Triumph and Tragedy of J. Robert Oppenheimer.”
Another scene shows Oppenheimer and a team of government scientists as they develop nuclear weapons in the 1940s.
Murphy has collaborated with Nolan on films including “Inception,” “Dunkirk” and “The Dark Knight” trilogy, though “Oppenheimer” marks the actor’s first taking on a lead role in one of the director’s films. In preparation for the film’s release this summer, the British Film Institute will, however, re-release some of Nolan’s films, available for viewing in 70mm IMAX.
